Oil Cooling and Filtration

Keeping the Transmission fluid cool and clean is extremely important.  There are auxiliary coolers, which any RV should already have, and transmission pan coolers ( see http://www.derale.com/transmissionpans.shtml ) that increase the oil capacity of the transmission and also are built for additional cooling.

Look at your existing transmission cooler and see if it is sized properly for the way you use your vehicle. There are larger units available and even fan mounted coolers so you can locate them remotely and still have cooling. To see an example go to http://www.derale.com/fanmountedoilcoolers.shtml.

There are also thermostats that bypass your cooling unit until a certain temperature is reached. See http://www.derale.com/coolerfiltration.shtml for an example.

Adding an external filter ensures that any abrasive particles are not recycled and the additional fluid helps with cooling.
